Plan Your Visit

Whether you're visiting for a day or making a weekend getaway of it, we can't wait to welcome you to the San Juan Islands Farm Tours! With three weekends of events across Lopez, San Juan, and Orcas islands, a little planning goes a long way. Explore the resources below to help plan your Farm Tours adventure.

Where to Eat

Transportation and Lodging

If you're traveling to the San Juan Islands for Farm Tours, we encourage you to explore the San Juan Islands Visitor's Bureau for helpful resources for transportation, ferry travel, lodging, and trip planning.

Farms are located throughout the San Juan Islands, and we encourage visitors to carpool or bike whenever possible. Parking can be limited at active farms, so planning ahead and sharing rides helps make the experience better for everyone.

If you're staying on San Juan Island, our friends at the Earthbox Inn & Spa and Bird Rock Hotel are proud supporters of Farm Tours. Their staff will have Farm Tours maps, recommendations, and local tips ready to help you make the most of your visit.

Complete your Farm Tours weekend by enjoying the San Juan Islands' incredible farm-to-table restaurants, cafés, and bakeries. Many businesses are proud to support our farming community by sourcing local ingredients. The following are offering "Farm Tours" specials throughout the weekend.

Lopez Island:

  • Blue Heron Bistro

San Juan Island:

  • Leaven Bakery for a savory danish featuring lamb from Aurora Farms and a danish featuring Mama Bird tomatoes.

Orcas:

  • Orcas Bakery

We're continuing to add participating businesses throughout the season, so check back for updates.

Are you a restaurant, cafe, bakery, or food business sourcing local ingredient and interested in offering a Farm Tours Special? We'd love to include you! Please get in touch with Julie@sjicd.org to learn more.

General Tips for a Great Farm Tours Weekend:

Every Farm Tours experience is a little different- that's the beauty of having so many farms and events to choose from! Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your weekend while respecting the farmers who graciously open their farms during one of their busiest seasons.

  • Bring a cooler to keep your farm store treats cool while you travel from farm to farm.

  • Carpool or bike when possible. Parking can be limited at some farms.

  • Please leave pets at home. For the safety of livestock, farm animals, and other visitors, dogs are not permitted at most farms, not even from your parked car.

  • Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather

  • Bring cash for farm stands- payment options vary by farm.

  • Plan your route ahead of time. Events are posted as they are confirmed. Digital and physical brochures become available two weeks prior to the weekends. Here are the ways to explore Farm Tours:

About the San Juan Islands Farm Tours

The San Juan Islands Farm Tours began in 2008 when a group of local farmers came together to showcase the region's vibrant agricultural community. Since then, it has grown to welcome over 2,000 guests traveling from across Washington and beyond each year during the three weekends of guided and self-guided farm tours, workshops, farm-to-table dinners, and more.

The Farm Tours celebrate the farmers, ranchers, and food producers who nourish our islands while strengthening connections between residents, visitors, and local agriculture. By encouraging farm stand sales and direct engagement with producers, the event supports the economic vitality of participating farms and promotes a more resilient local food system. Today, less than 5% of the food consumed in the San Juan Islands is grown locally, making it more important than ever to support the people and farms working to increase local food production.

The 2026 Farm Tours planning team is led by the San Juan Islands Conservation District with support from the Agricultural Guild, the San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau, and an Island Coordinator from each participating island. Farm Tours is grateful to receive LTAC Funding to support planning and marketing.
