About 

The San Juan Islands Farm Tours began in 2008 when a group of local farmers came together to showcase the region's vibrant agricultural community. Organized entirely by volunteers for many years, the event eventually transitioned to the San Juan Islands Conservation District, which was able to secure support through San Juan County Lodging Tax funding and sponsorships. This funding provides the planning, marketing, and logistical support that allows our busy farmers to focus on what they do best.

The Farm Tours celebrate the people who grow our food, strengthen connections between residents and visitors and local agriculture, and support the economic vitality of participating farms through increased farm stand sales and direct customer engagement. Today, less than 5% of the food consumed in the San Juan Islands is grown locally, making it more important than ever to support our local food system.

The 2026 Farm Tours planning team includes representatives from the San Juan Islands Conservation District, the Agricultural Guild, the San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau, and an Island Coordinator from each participating island.

Ferries, Transportation, and Lodging

The Visitor's Bureau has excellent resources we encourage all Farm Tours attendees who are traveling from off-island to check out. Farms are located across the islands and we would recommend carpooling or biking. Parking can be limited at active farms. Staying on San Juan Island? Our friends at Earthbox Inn are sponsoring this event!

Tips for Visiting Farms

Everyone's Farm Tours experience looks different (the beauty of so many options!), but here are some recommendations to make sure you're getting the most out of your weekend while respecting the farmers who are graciously opening up their space during their busy season. ​

  • Bring a cooler to keep your farm store treats cool while you bop farm to farm

  • Carpool if you can; parking may be limited

  • Keep dogs at home

  • There are many ways to plan your visit!
